US Labor Department removes old anti-discrimination rules for job training programs

The US Labor Department is removing rules that prevented discrimination and ensured equal opportunity in job training programs. These rules were tied to a law that Congress replaced in 2014, so they no longer apply.

This document is a cleanup operation. The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA) was replaced by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) in 2014. The Labor Department is simply removing the old regulations that no longer have a legal basis. It does not change current anti-discrimination requirements, which are now covered by WIOA.
