The European Union has expanded its sanctions against Russia. These rules now apply to individuals and companies outside the EU if they help Russia avoid sanctions.
Before this, sanctions mainly targeted actions within the EU or by EU entities. Now, the EU can go after anyone, anywhere, who helps Russia bypass these restrictions. This means companies in countries not directly involved in the conflict could face penalties for doing business with sanctioned Russian entities.
