Delaware gets a pass on some air quality checks for fine particulate matter

US environmental regulators are proposing to approve Delaware's plan to maintain air quality standards for fine particulate matter in New Castle County. This means the county will not need to submit full, detailed plans for how it will meet these standards, as long as pollution levels stay low.

When an area consistently meets air quality standards, it can apply for a "limited maintenance plan." This plan reduces the reporting burden on local governments. It means less paperwork for Delaware, freeing up resources that would otherwise be spent on detailed air quality modeling and reporting.
