Small planes get a 60-day reprieve from new inspection fees
What happened
The US Department of Agriculture has delayed a new fee for small commercial passenger aircraft. These planes will not have to pay for agricultural quarantine and inspection services until June 2, 2025, instead of April 1, 2025.
Why it matters
This is a small, temporary delay in a fee change. It means small commercial aircraft operators will save a little money for two months. The larger change, removing the fee exemption for these planes, is still set to happen.
The signal
Watch if this delay is extended again, or if the fee removal goes into effect as planned in June 2025.
