South Carolina gets federal green light to enforce incinerator pollution rules

The US environmental regulators approved South Carolina's plan to control pollution from commercial and industrial incinerators. This means the state can now enforce federal rules for emissions, monitoring, and reporting on these units.

The federal rules for these types of incinerators have been in place since 2016. South Carolina's plan to enforce them just got the final federal sign-off. This means operators of these units in South Carolina can no longer delay compliance by citing state-level procedural issues.
