The VA is buying a new kind of prostate cancer scan for veterans

The US Department of Veterans Affairs is buying a new type of imaging agent for prostate cancer. This means veterans will get access to a more precise diagnostic tool for detecting and staging the disease.

For decades, prostate cancer detection relied on less specific imaging methods. This new agent, called PSMA, binds directly to prostate cancer cells, making tumors much easier to see. This shift allows doctors to find cancer earlier and more accurately, which can change treatment plans for veterans.
