Pipeline operators get more time to file safety reports

The US pipeline safety agency proposes to extend the deadline for gas pipeline operators to submit their annual safety reports. These reports, which include mapping information, would now be due on June 15, aligning with existing deadlines for hazardous liquid pipelines.

This change gives gas pipeline companies an extra five months to compile and submit their mandatory safety data. It means the agency will receive all pipeline safety reports, both gas and liquid, at the same time each year. This could streamline the agency's data analysis and enforcement processes.
