The Gulf of Mexico is now officially the Gulf of America

The US Commerce Department and NOAA are changing the official name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. This change follows a Presidential directive and aims to make official documents consistent with the new name.

This is a purely symbolic change. It does not alter any physical boundaries, environmental regulations, or economic activities in the region. The directive simply renames a major body of water, affecting maps and official communications.
