Rural housing owners can sell properties faster, with less paperwork

The US Department of Agriculture is extending a pilot program that makes it easier to transfer ownership of rural rental and farm labor housing. This means property owners can sell these affordable housing units with less bureaucracy and lower costs.

The US Department of Agriculture owns or backs a lot of affordable housing in rural areas. Selling these properties has always been a slow, expensive process, which discourages new owners from taking them on. This change removes some of that friction, making it easier for new owners to acquire and maintain these properties.
